Open-data sources behind PlaceField
PlaceField builds curated location datasets from open and public data sources. Source attribution is provided centrally here so customer form integrations can stay focused and uncluttered.
Customer attribution
Most PlaceField customers do not need to show visible attribution beside every location field. Public attribution for the hosted PlaceField dataset is maintained on this page and referenced from customer documentation and API metadata.
If a customer exports, republishes, or substantially redistributes PlaceField data outside the normal API/widget integration, separate attribution or licensing terms may apply.
REST Countries
REST Countries data is used for country metadata, country centroids, and translated country names where available.
License: Mozilla Public License 2.0.
Wikidata
Wikidata may be used for selected labels, coordinates, population checks, and multilingual enrichment where the data improves quality.
Official public sources
Country, regional, or statistical sources may be used for targeted coverage and quality improvements. Each promoted source must have a manifest and licensing review before commercial use.
