Terms

These terms describe the basic rules for evaluating and using PlaceField, a focused location autocomplete API and browser widget for city, administrative area, region, island, and country lookup.

Service Scope

PlaceField provides structured city, region, and country suggestions for apps, backends, and form fields. It is not an address validation service, postal-address autocomplete service, map tile service, routing service, reverse geocoder, or point-of-interest search product.

API responses may include stable PlaceField identifiers, names, hierarchy, country information, and coordinates where available. Dataset updates are tracked separately from API versions through response metadata.

Access And Keys

Production access may include guided setup. Browser public keys must be used only from exact allowed origins configured for the customer account. Secret server keys must be kept on backend systems and must not be exposed in browser JavaScript, public repositories, logs, screenshots, or client-side bundles.

Customers may rotate keys from Dashboard. Rotation deactivates the old key, and new server secret values are shown only once.

You are responsible for activity under keys issued to your account. PlaceField may allow short usage spikes, and if usage regularly grows beyond the included plan volume, we may contact you to discuss the right setup. PlaceField may deactivate keys, reject origins, or apply rate limits to protect the service, enforce plan limits, investigate abuse, or respond to compromised credentials.

Acceptable Use

Do not use PlaceField to attack, overload, scrape, resell, or reverse engineer the service. Do not bypass key restrictions, origin checks, rate limits, or access controls. Do not use the service where a failure, incorrect result, or unavailable result could create a safety-critical outcome without independent verification.

PlaceField may suspend or limit access for abusive traffic, security risk, unpaid commercial use, or use outside the agreed product scope.

Data And Attribution

PlaceField builds hosted datasets from open, public, and reviewed sources, with central attribution maintained at /attributions. Normal API and widget integrations usually do not need attribution beside each form field or ordinary lookup workflow.

Exporting, republishing, bulk downloading, caching for redistribution, or using PlaceField data outside the normal hosted API/widget integration may require separate written permission or source-specific attribution obligations.

Availability And Changes

PlaceField is offered on a commercially reasonable, best-effort basis unless a separate written agreement says otherwise. The public API uses major versions in the URL path. Compatible additions may be made to an existing API version; breaking customer-facing API changes require a new major version or a migration path.

Location data changes over time. PlaceField may update, correct, merge, remove, or rerank dataset records to improve quality, comply with source terms, or remove unsafe results.

Commercial Terms

Pricing, usage limits, support expectations, billing method, and any custom data curation are agreed during production setup or in a separate written agreement. Evaluation access is not intended for production traffic.
